  The Elevation Awards 2024

Subject: Response to Sweet Emily's Public Comments Regarding Elevation Awards Nomination

The Elevation Awards team wishes to address recent public comments made by Sweet Emily regarding her nomination for "Female Artist of the Year" at the upcoming 5th Annual Elevation Awards. We understand and respect Sweet Emily's perspective, and we want to provide clarity on the nomination process and our commitment to honoring all artists within our community.

Sweet Emily is undeniably recognized as a Bahamian icon and legend, and her ongoing efforts to remain relevant and current within the entertainment industry have not gone unnoticed. Her eligibility for nomination consideration in the "Female Artist of the Year" category was solely based on her releases within the eligibility period of 2021-2023, as outlined in our nomination criteria.

We acknowledge Sweet Emily's public request to be removed from the category, and in response, we have taken the necessary steps to honor her request. We respect her decision and reaffirm our commitment to honoring her contributions at the appropriate time.

Efforts were made by our Executive Producer on February 8th to meet with Sweet Emily to address any concerns and provide clarity on our nomination process. Unfortunately, Sweet Emily declined this opportunity. We remain open to dialogue and collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure transparency and fairness in our procedures.

The Elevation Awards nomination process is twofold, incorporating submissions from artists/brands themselves and data validation from reputable agencies such as Radio House, Streaming Platforms, Performing Rights Societies, and more. This ensures that nominations are based on factual data rather than popularity.

Our organization stands firmly against discrediting or belittling any artist and is committed to uplifting and honoring all members of our creative community. We invite all stakeholders to engage with us, share their feedback, and contribute to our collective mission of celebrating Bahamian talent.

As we countdown to the 5th Annual Elevation Awards, we encourage everyone to tune in to "Road to the Awards," a weekly live online show where we will address questions, concerns, and provide insights into our processes. We invite you to join us on this journey as we prepare for an unforgettable celebration.

In conclusion, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all nominees and encourage everyone to support the Elevation Awards by tuning in live via ZNS TV 13 and purchasing tickets via theelevationawards.com. Together, let's celebrate the incredible talent within our community.
